Germany and Finland sign a CAVS MoU.

The Finnish Ministry of Defence and the German Federal Ministry of Defense have inked a Statement of Intent to join the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) on June 14, 2022.

The nations will have talks to finalise Germany’s participation in the initiative. Furthermore, under the scope of the initiative, the nations will continue negotiations on the production and acquisition of armoured vehicles.

CAVS is a worldwide joint effort that aims to build an armoured vehicle system based on the shared criteria of the countries participating. The initiative is now being implemented in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, and Sweden. Patria’s 6×6 vehicle was already selected as the chassis platform for the shared R&D programme.

To date, R&D effort has resulted in a shared platform and an APC variant that match the programme members’ common needs. New nations are still welcome to join the programme.
